President's Annual Letter 2017

Welcome TTA Members and New Friends

TTA Programs will begin on Tuesday, May 2, with Drop-In Doubles for Women and Men.
The addition of men last summer was very successful.  We had a combination of Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles.  So please come out and join the group!

Clinics will be instructed by Carol and Joe Pillsworth. They have been with TTA for many years and we are fortunate to have them.  Clinics are included with your $30 membership.

TTA has been awarded two grants this year

Eastern Adult Tennis Foundation has awarded TTA another $750 grant to be used for the Senior Clinic (60+).  EATF has been so generous to our organization, and we appreciate it greatly. Joe Pillsworth will instruct this clinic.

USTA has awarded TTA with a $1,063 grant for Beginners. We are thrilled to be able to offer lessons to our members who need to practice the basic skills and improve their game.  We hope this program brings in new members. Please spread the word. Carol Pillsworth is the instructor.

Interclub opportunities will be offered this summer. A schedule will be available on the web site and notifications will be e-mailed on a regular basis. Sign up is required. Donna Britton and Marjorie Smit will coordinate the play dates. Thank you for your efforts.

I met with Deputy Mayor, Monica Kurzejeski, in March. The restrooms will be cleaned before May and there should be a cleaning schedule in place for continuous maintenance throughout the summer. The City of Troy will have Copeland provide an estimate for court repairs. At that time, the City will determine how much they can spend.  The Friends of Prospect Park has offered to help with the expenses if needed.  FOPP is submitting a grant to be used for two new water fountains. If awarded, one will be installed at the tennis courts and the other in the playground area. TTA appreciates the support that the City and Friends of Prospect Park provide for the tennis facilities in the Park.

Thank you to officers: Marjorie Smit, Ellie Cusick, Hannelore Wilfert, and Ann Kolakowski; Heather Hamlin, Webmaster; Arlen Johnson, Web hosting. We also thank all the members and friends of TTA who contribute to the cause by volunteering in a variety of ways as well as the non-playing members who continue to support us.

Mail the membership form with your check to Ann Kolakowski before you begin play. This is the most direct and effective method to pay.  Cash payments should be given to Hannelore or Ann.

Thank you,
Suzanne Hauber, President
